Neornithes players,

It's really no secret that this game has been on a steady decline for a while. Ash, Yue and I have done our very best to keep things afloat, but with activity almost at a standstill I feel that, perhaps, Neorn has run it's course. How long we've been going is nothing to poke a stick at, however. This game started in December 2013. We have over twenty thousand comments across our community, and some amazing friendships have been made and strengthened here. I'm proud of how far we've gotten. But, of course, it wasn't just the three of us now that brought us here. We have Koz to thank for creation of Neornithes to begin with, and our mods of the past Tay and memeslave Nikki. Even if they aren't here now, we owe them a lot!

Anyway, here's what I'm trying to get at. At first the concept of letting go of Neorn was one that ripped me up inside, but I think that perhaps now is the time to send her on her way.

But, this isn't our choice alone.

I want to hear what all of you who have stuck with us have to say. A game is only as good as its players, and that's why Neorn has been so wonderful this last year and a half. So please, tell us what you think. How would you like to see things wrap up? Endings are inevitable, but with the grace of our players we'll do our best to make it an ending they want.

I've decided to put up a poll, but I also want to hear from you all in the comments. Before you vote, let me explain each choice:

Endgame Plot: Want to go out with a bang? We'd very much like to. If a storyline and "triumph" over the prison sounds like a cool way to do that, this is the option for you. Evidently, this would prolong closure of the game.

A Simple End: A simple end, is, well, just that. The game would be closed with no fanfare, leaving the end up to player imagination. This would be ideal for making your own endgame threads in your personal museboxes.

Other: Have an idea we didn't come up with? Vote this option and share your thoughts in the comments."

Poll #16619 Endgame Poll

How would you like to see Neorn end?

View Answers

Endgame Plot
1 (25.0%)

A Simple End
3 (75.0%)

Other
0 (0.0%)

No matter what option is chosen, we will of course allow any ongoing threads to continue until completion after closing.

Whatever happens from here, I hope we can all look back on fond memories together. That we can all be proud. They were all just stories in the end... but we made them good ones.

Hey everyone!

The activity check has come to a close, and we will be removing outdated information shortly. If you've been removed in error or happened to miss the check and still want to play, contact us and we'll work it all out.

With all our eggs (heh) in a row, it's time for event sign ups! As The Newlydeads Game requires two characters to work in cooperation, we've decided to give you two options: you may either choose a partner for each of your muses or leave it up to the mods to randomly select! There's no character limit this time, so feel free to sign up with as many or as few characters as you want. Just be sure to specify your preference! :) Sign ups, questions and etc may go in the comments!

Mod Ash here! The poll has been closed and you have selected the Newlydeads Game as your next event! Keep your eyes peeled for an update.

We'd also like to run a quick activity check to see who all is still active, who wants to hang around, and the like. Just comment here with all your characters and we'll mark you as active! Just a little thing we do to keep the game clean for all.

Hey guys, we've got some various goings on to let you know about in the Deadman Wonderland universe.

New suggestions post
Tell us what you'd like to see or be changed with the community! We're all about feedback and want to hear what you've got to say, be it good or bad.

Candy deadline extension
Due to a bit of a mixup, candy deadlines have been extended by a week. You have until Sunday, March 8 to buy candy for your characters! Be careful, or they could die!

New event
We're allowing players to pick between two events with a Valentines theme due to the date in game.

Malice and Mazes; A team of two will be split up in a game that will having you believe the impossible at least one time before breakfast. While one inmate falls down the rabbit hole into an increasingly curious maze, the second is tasked with leading their teammate to a safe location outside of the twisting and turning hedges. Rather or not this is a game or trust or betrayal is just another mystery, so don't leave your heart on your sleeve!

The Newlydeads Game; An old fashioned Newlyweds game with a twist! Answer the questions about your partner properly or risk a dart in your arm, ouch!
Answer more than half wrong, and end up with an arrow in your heart. Extra ouch!
Make sure you know your partner well, or it could spell doom.

Feel free to vote on the poll below, ask questions or post comments as well!

Hi friends!

Due to holidays and general busyness around this time of year, the IC day has been extended another week.

We wish you all a great New Year!

[personal profile] avibusraris
The bank page has been updated. Going through it, however, a problem became very clear: due to the holidays and the Wheel of Fortune event, a number of people forgot to buy candies. Since it is that time of year and such, we've decided to extend the time those characters that would have died either on December 7 or December 14 to January 10, three weeks from today.

The effected include:

Clara Oswald
Eiji Hino
Eren Jaeger
John Smith
Kaiba
Levi Rivaille
Loki
Megumi Mamakari
Nonon Jakuzure
Philip
Rat
Rei Hazama
Robyn Russo
Roman Torchwick
Ryu Terui
Shotaro Hidari
Sora Takigawa
Terra
Tidus
Tokaku Azumi
Yui Kiriyama

Those that died during the event or the torture game afterwards (Hina, Satori, Kaiba, and Aya) are also alive again due to the time update.

If your character's name is not on the list given remember to check the Bank to see when your character needs candy. Thank you!

Hi everyone! Medli here again.

Quite happily, I can announce to you all that we have two new mods! Please welcome Yue and Ash! Over the next week or so, we'll be working hard to make changes and improvements.

Due to Tay's departure, our Wheel of Misfortune event will, unfortunately, have to remain unfinished. We apologize for this and promise to get going with exciting new events soon, but until then I'll be posting what rewards each character received for participating. Again, huge apologies for the delay in results. Thank you for your patience, and received funds will be added to the bank as soon as possible. Without further ado, here is what everyone won:

Game 1:
Aya: 100,000 CP won + 100,000 CP as Winning Team + DSO Vacation*
Kaiba: 100,000 CP won + 100,000 CP as Winning Team + DSO Vacation*

Fetch: 100,000 CP
Clara: 100,000 CP

Ankh: 100,000 CP
Sora: 100,000 CP

Game 2:
Rat: 185,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team
Driver: 185,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team

Loki: 100,000 CP
Ymir: 100,000 CP

Game 3:
Robyn: 141,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team
Rei: 141,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team

Ryu: 100,000 CP + 2 Candies
Roman: 100,000 CP + 2 Candies

Game 4:
Nonon: 100,000 CP
Satori: 100,000 CP

John: 100,000 CP
Levi: 100,000 CP

(No clear winner, so no bonuses.)

Game 5:
Megumi: 415,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team
Hina: 415,000 CP + 100,000 CP as Winning Team

Shotaro: 175,000 CP
Weiss: 175,000 CP

* Finally, the Desert Sands Oasis Vacation's identity is finally revealed... as a torture game! Both players win a trip to an after-game show! The pair will be placed in a room with a sandpaper floor running on a conveyor belt to force continued movement in the room, pulling the player back from the image of a desert oasis. The room is painted like a desert and the heaters are placed on 100F within the room. There is one small manhole in the ceiling through which players can see a possibility of freedom, but it is just above the height of two people stacked together. Every 5 minutes, the floor speeds up 1mph. Players must continue to move in the room or they will have their skin ripped off by the sandpaper over time. Time in the room is indefinite in order to wear the players out to the point of exhaustion. Death is imminent, but so slow and so painful. If either of you would like to play this out, contact a mod! ;)

Hey everyone! I'm sure most of you have noticed that our hard-working mod Tay has recently resigned from the position. We're so grateful for all the dedication she put into modding, but now we want to hear from the people!

As of now, we need two new mods. This is your chance! If any of you are interested in helping out around here, please contact us via posting here, personal messaging, our personal accounts, or even AIM. We're looking for some help with tasks ranging from day changes and NPC posts to events and spreadsheet documenting.

As another note, we are working on a way to resolve the most recent event and will post again once we've figured out how to appropriately deal with it.

On a final note, I'd like to ask all of you how you feel about Neorn lately. Thoughts, concerns, ideas? Please share them with us. We want Neorn to be a fun experience for everyone, so don't hesitate to talk to us in the comments.

Thank you guys! Have a wonderful day.

Hello there! :3 I've got a cutesy little event for you that's gonna make your headspin! A little bit. Well, it may make your character's headspin anyway. Or they might get motion sickness from watching the wheel. I just don't know. Either way, it's a super fun partner game coming up!

The game will be simple and is played very similar to the TV game show "Wheel of Fortune." Contestants must come together in pairs, spin the wheel, and guess letters. If the letter they guessed is correct, they get the amount of CP on the wheel they landed on! If it's wrong, they don't get any. Nice and fun right?

Except when certain things happen. To purchase vowels, you must pay with pain. Lose a turn? Lose a lot more than that. The special panels that would normally be vacations in the TV show are special painstaking events that, while your characters' pair will get a substantial amount of CP from, are sure to hold equally as substantial suffering! Pairs may choose which of the partners may go, though they only have 10 seconds to choose or both will submit to it. Be careful not to go bankrupt, or a character will lose their life and all the CP that they earned. As long as one partner is still alive, the earned CP is still in play and can be won at the end of the game. If both partners are dead, the CP earned (unless bankrupt) will go to the winner of the round. Losing in general does not mean death, they just don't get the CP that they won. There may be a surprise at the end, too!

There will be 3 pairs per game, meaning 2/6 characters may win this event. There is a 25,000CP participation bonus that all participating characters will receive simply for being involved!

All pairs will be randomized, so if you would like to participate, you are required to reply to this post with intent! You must reply by Saturday, November 22nd at 11:59PM EST to be put into a pair.

Bohaha! The time for an event is at hand! In fact, it will take place on September 28th, just in the night of time for those who need a candy by that date.

It's nearly time for the...

CARNIVAL CORPSE

Carnival Corpse is an event that pits Deadman against Deadman in an epic battle where the only weapons are one's own flesh and blood! Spectators abound and winners will win it big! But losers beware, there are the most tragic of punishment games reserved for those who don't make the mark. And for a fun twist, fellow inmates can influence the game too... Here's what's going to happen:

SPECTATOR BONUS
Every Deadman Wonderland inmate receives 100,000CP for free on the start date of the tournament.

CUTTHROAT CARNIVAL CORPSE
In a combination of Cutthroat Kitchen auctions and The Hunger Games style "sponsorship," inmates will be able to bid on specific items that they can use to affect one of the Carnival Corpse tournament fights. The auction items will go up for bid before the fight, but after the opponent matching is announced. Inmates will be able bid CP on items and if they win, they can choose to force the item on one of the Deadmen. For example, electrical shock bracelets to one of the Deadmen's limbs to prevent full use, blindfolds, or other items that the Deadmen cannot remove or the fight is forfeit.
What's to keep my character from just taking the 100,000CP and using it for candy?
Nothing-- if they just want to keep the 100,000CP that's fine. But there's an incentive for them to join in the auction beyond that. If the Deadman who their purchase benefits wins, they will gain a return of double what they spent during the auction. If the hindered Deadman wins regardless of the auction item hinder, they only lose the money they spent during the auction.

Example: Sally won an auction at 81,000CP to force Jill to fight in a banana suit*. This leaves Sally with 19,000CP no matter what happens in the fight. This would favor Jill's opponent, Hung. If Hung wins the fight, then Sally will receive 162,000CP in addition to the 19,000CP for a total of 181,000CP added to Sally's account. That's almost enough for a second candy, keeping Sally alive for longer. If Jill wins the fight, then Sally only keeps the 19,000CP. It could be dangerous, but the payout could certainly be worth it-- especially if Sally is worried that the next event might be even more terrible or not in time for her next antidote needs.
*A banana suit will not be up for auction, this is only for the sample. A list of auction items will be released at the time of the event.
Each auction winner reserves the right to choose whichever Deadmen they please as recipients of their "gifts." This means that one Deadmen may end up with multiple hindrances during their fight. Even if your character is not interested in doubling their CP, they can consider this as a way to attempt to protect their friends as well.

CARNIVAL CORPSE
Any character who is a Deadman (G-block residents) will be able to be signed up for the Carnival Corpse tournament. To sign your character up, reply to this post under this comment. All of the signed up Deadmen will be pitted against each other using an RNG. You do not get to pick your character's first opponents for this event, they will be randomized. In replying, please post ALL characters in a single comment if you have more than one character you would like to participate. This will help prevent characters from the same player being paired together.

Deadmen in a Carnival Corpse fight are only permitted to fight using their bodies and their Branches of Sin. No external weapons are allowed. The Carnival Corpse battle ends when one of the Deadmen is incapacitated or dead. It does not end upon refusal to fight. If both opponents refuse to fight, incentives will be given at the discretion of The Warden, The President, The Director, or Irving. This could mean physical harm to one of the combatants, a CP fine, harm to someone they happen to appreciate the company of, or anything that the mods decide is appropriate.

Winners of a round gain 1,000CP. The Deadmen coming in 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place will all receive 10 candies (a month's supply). The last Deadman standing (1st place) will additionally receive 1,000,000CP. If the Deadman loses, they will be forced to play a penalty game. Penalty games can be read about here. Should a Deadman die during the course of a fight, they will still have to face their penalty after being revived. All Carnival Corpse battles and penalty games are broadcast across the prison for all to see.

After the first level, the winners will go on to fight each other until there is only one Deadman left standing. If you have any questions at all, feel free to reply to this post and a moderator will get back to you as soon as possible! You have until Sunday to sign up. Don't be scared, Carnivals are meant to be fun~

Hello all!

It's your friendly neighborhood Taymod with more silly but fun detail stuff to make your life, my life, and the characters' lives a little easier. There are three updates this week!

1. Item Pricing Database - The Item Pricing Database is a quick list of all items that have been requested in the present or past, along with their prices and how much a character can get back if they return the item. Note that not all items are eligible for refunds and some include additional charges. Any additional charges will be noted with a hover comment from me to explain why. There may be notes about specific items or prices to explain additional charges or elaborate on a particular detail of the item.

2. Monthly Meal Plans - Inmates can now subscribe to monthly meal plans! This means you only have to comment the bank for foods that are not covered under your character's meal plans every time they are purchased. So if your character wants to purchase a cup of coffee, cool, go for it. However, if your character wants their lunch and doesn't want oatmeal slop every day, you don't have to comment every single Sunday with your character's meal itinerary. There are more details on the page itself and three separate plans that depend on how much your character can afford / wants to afford. Remember: You do have to comment the first time. On the "1st" of each IC month, there will be a reminder to renew the monthly plan if your character both has the money to and would like to.

3. Pet Monthly Meal Plans - If your character has a pet, they will be required to have one of these plans. If they cannot afford the plan, they will either have to temporarily loan their pet to someone else who can or give the pet up. The price of the meal plan is dependent upon the size and rarity of the animal (a hamster is going to cost less to take care of than a tiger, for example). The meal plans come in Small, Medium-Large, and Exotic and are all listed on the Item Pricing Database, along with the cost of animals of the same description. (Keep in mind that exotic animals are only obtainable via special events. You cannot purchase a lion or a venomous snake or a chinese giant salamander, for example.)

That's all! If you would like to make any updates to your characters' meal plans or pet meal plans, head over to the bank page. If you have any questions, please comment to this post. Lastly, a reminder: don't forget to comment to the check-in if you intend on staying with us at Neornithes!

It's a game changer! Wahahahaahahahaha! Okay no but seriously we've got a couple of things to talk about.

1. Candy dosage is changing to last only 3 days instead of 7.
WHY?
Because if you start off with a candy for 7 days, that's 7 weeks in real time. Plus the 7 weeks leeway for new people, that gives you 14 weeks without having to participate in any events. That's nearly 4 months! Which can make game participation difficult for characters that aren't as gung-ho about torturing their friends as other characters are.

ICly, this will be announced with the Day Change on Sunday, along with a clearing of all previous candy. Candy dates for characters will be kept track of at the new "Neornithes Bank." (See #3.)

2. All characters' CP is going to be reset to 100,000CP + the amount they won in the last event.
WHY?
Very very few people have actually been keeping track of their characters' CP. For this reason, there will be a new "Neornithes Bank" to keep track of it for you! (See #3.) This will also be announced during the day change on Sunday.

3. The Neornithes Bank!
WHAT?
Tay-mod likes organizing things and has volunteered to keep track of everyone's CP and candy dates for you. There's a fancy spreadsheet and everything already waiting. Starting on Sunday, you as the player will be required to comment to the bank page for anything your character buys.

All bank accounts for current characters are starting at 100,000CP + the amount of CP won in the last event. If you are not finished with your event thread yet, I have a list and will be keeping track of the threads until all 4 questions are answered. If you do not see the increase in your character's bank account and a week has passed after the thread has ended, feel free to nudge a mod to get it updated.

Money for jobs will be automatically deposited into the character's account each Sunday, so make sure that your character is signed up on the jobs page to receive their CP for the position. If your character is not signed up officially, they will not receive CP for their work.

If a character needs a candy, a private message will be sent to the character's account as a notification for you the player with the option to either have the character die of collar poison or for them to purchase a new candy. You may have your characters purchase candy ahead of time and the date will be updated based on how many candies they purchase at 100,000CP each. If the character does not have 100,000CP to spend on candy and they reach their date, they either need to find someone else willing to purchase them a candy. The purchase should be noted as "Candy for [Name]" on the bank page so that the time goes to the correct individual.

For future events, you the player will need to comment the bank page to add event CP to your characters accounts, along with a link to the thread. Any CP awarded on day changes will be automatically added to your characters' accounts.

The bank page is here and all updates will be added to the FAQs on Sunday.

4. Active Players Check-In!
If you're still interested in being in the game, you need to make sure to comment this post with all of the characters that you play so we can clear out inactive characters! It's a separate post so it can be stickied at the top.

Have any questions? Comments? Crazy gifs? Reply to this post and a mod will get back to you as soon as possible!

Hey everyone, this is Tay!mod. I just wanted to let you know that there were a couple of updates to job policies. First of all, here's the page for your reference. The updated sections are:
    1. All jobs are listed on the page now with job descriptions.
    2. A maximum of 5 positions are available for each job.
    3. Inmates may only hold up to a maximum of 3 jobs at 10,000CP a day (up to 30,000CP per day.) Being a student counts as a job position, so students may only hold 2 other jobs.
    4. If you would like to add an additional job, it must be approved by a moderator and added to the list before your character can perform that job.
That's all! Eventually the page will get spruced up with some nice coding, but there it is in alphabetical order for you for now! Enjoy and happy Monday!

As always, any questions can be left in a comment below. Stay classy, friends.

First off, I'd like to thank all of your for participating in this wonderful musebox game known as sinners delight jammies and jumpsuits the sexy inmates NEORNITHES!! Yaaayyy!! I love you all my friends! Koz hugs for everyone!

Next couple orders of business be starting. I'd like to thank my friend Medli (who plays Loki and The Doctah) for helping me with day changes and everything. Think of her as my... assistant to the regional moderator. C:

Yesyes, okay. Before I start the real meat and potatoes here I would like to extend a courteous offer for a session where we all hang out. Yes I'm talking about a Neorn skype call. Possibly. If enough show interest then it might have to happen :'D If you just wanna talk to me 'cause I'm so amazing you can reach me on skype with the username known as: koz-da-great

yeah i wasn't creative when i was 15

Now for the real deal! Events! Here's where you come in. I'm storming up a couple events, and even bringing some back from the game I was at (and head modded as well for a short time) before it was closed. I would like some help with thinking up events, anything you think might be fantastical. This is a musebox for the people, by the people, so I would love some participating in thinking up gruesome events! ....Or nice events. Either one.

I'm developing a mixture of group events and solo events. The theme of DMWL is of course, fun and carnivals. So the Warden has become obsessed with childish games that she twisted around herself. The first event coming up is a game you might all know, Would You Rather. Here's how it goes:

The day begins like any other, the intercom comes on, the doors open, but the Warden has other plans. Those that have been signed up, picked specifically by the Warden, will be gathered to the cafeteria. Once all gathered, they will soon have to move out on to the stage, the entire place lit up and the audience cheering. Just what did she have planned? Well, no one will really know, for on a high platform comes a different man that no one had ever seen before. He calls himself the Warden's second in command, and Second is here to relieve some of that confusion. There are walls set up, glass walls that are far too thick to break are sectioning off areas, within those areas is a single table. Once the inmate is seated (they'll be forcibly seated if they don't do it on their own) the games will begin.

The objective here is simple: Survive 4 rounds.

But wait, how is the audience cheering about this? Of course, they were told this was all fake and the inmates wouldn't actually be killed. It's a show! Live a little! No matter how much the inmate screams no one will save them. Now on to the main event!

How it works: Second will ask the inmate which they would rather do, and they must pick one. If they don't want to do either, they will be shot right through the head. The snipers are in bird costumes and ready to fire! The questions vary, maybe they have to eat dirt or eat worms, maybe they have to hold their breath for two minutes or lose a finger. As the rounds continue it will get more intense. If the character is alive at the end and has been through it all, then they will be rushed to the doctor and she'll have a look at them. Your character will be put back together, but they'll have to deal with the pain of the injuries and all the scars that come with it. Both Physical and mental. It can't all be happy for the winners however, while they'll be put back together don't blame the doctor if she forgets something! Maybe an eye, a finger, a foot, or even organs might not make it back on to the character. There will be a consequence for making it all the way through, despite getting the big prize.

Ah don't worry, if your character dies during this they will still receive some CP! Not as much as the grand prize, but once they're revived they will find the cheque for 100,000 CP on their bed. If your character dies during the rounds, they'll wake up with all their parts back together, but the scars will remain. Remember, death isn't permanent here. For whatever reason they simply will not let you die.

The winner will receive what? 1,000,000 CP and this fancy crown! Aren't you lucky?

I should also mention there can and will be more than one winner! Go for the gold!

So sign on up! I'll have a post for event suggestions later on as well. Just comment here if you want in my lovelies. When will the event be? There will be an announcement next day change about it, and then the following Sunday a log will go up for the event. So on the 12th this will commence.
